How Many Days Until Veterans Day?
When is Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is November 11 every year.
Veterans Day honors everyone who served in the US armed forces. November 11 is the anniversary of the 1918 armistice that ended World War I, also marked as Remembrance Day in the UK and Commonwealth.

Armistice Day to Veterans Day
The fighting in the First World War stopped at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The US marked it as Armistice Day and renamed it Veterans Day in 1954 to honour veterans of all wars.
Unlike Memorial Day, which remembers those who died, Veterans Day thanks everyone who served, living or dead. In Britain and the Commonwealth, people observe two minutes of silence at 11 a.m.
Planning time off around Veterans Day
Veterans Day 2026 falls on a Wednesday, in the middle of the week, so a long weekend would take two days of leave.
Veterans Day 2027 falls on a Thursday. Taking the Friday after off as well turns it into a four-day break for one day of leave.
