How Many Days Until Summer?
When is Summer?
Astronomical summer in the Northern Hemisphere begins at the June solstice, on June 20 or 21.
The summer solstice is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Meteorologists count summer from June 1, but the astronomical season starts at the solstice. Dates are in UTC; in the Americas the exact moment can fall on the evening before.

Summer solstice facts
At the June solstice, the Sun is directly over the Tropic of Cancer. North of the Arctic Circle it doesn't set at all, and in London there are about 16 and a half hours of daylight.
Thousands of people gather at Stonehenge to watch the sunrise, and Midsummer is one of the biggest celebrations of the year in Sweden and Finland.
